We love refreshing mint desserts and Oreo Mint Milkshakes are one of new favorites (along with our no-bake Oreo cheesecake bars!). This yummy treat is made by mixing vanilla ice cream, mint extract, mint Oreos and milk in your blender. It's a simple way to enjoy a refreshing dessert, and one that kids can help make.

While this recipe is made in any kitchen blender, you can use a milkshake maker, such as the Ninja Creami, to make a perfectly blended Oreo mint milkshake (and all other flavors, like a peach, coffee or cheesecake milkshake).

If you love minty desserts like us, check out our mint chocolate chip cookies and peppermint hot chocolate. And of course, our holiday favorite mint cheesecake!

Ingredients

To make our Oreo mint milkshake you need:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Mint Oreos
  • Chocolate chips
  • Mint extract: we make our mint extract in the pressure cooker.
  • Green food coloring
  • Whipped cream
  • Oreo crumbs (made from a few crushed Oreos)

Tips from the Chef

Making this milkshake in the summer when you have fresh mint to harvest? Add a handful of fresh mint leaves to the blender! We do this when we make strawberry smoothies.

ingredients needed to make an Oreo mint milkshake

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 seconds increments until smooth. Holding the milkshake glasses upside down, dip into the melted chocolate. Alternatively, use a spatula to spread the chocolate around the rim of each glass. Let harden before blending the milkshake ingredients.
  2. Once the chocolate has hardened add the vanilla ice cream, whole milk, mint extract, mint Oreos and green food coloring to a blender. Blend for 30-60 seconds on high speed. Pour the blended shake into the chocolate-rimmed glasses.
  3. Add whipped cream, an Oreo, and Oreo crumbs to the top if desired.

Recipe FAQs

Can I Use Regular Oreos?

Yes, you can use regular chocolate Oreos but the peppermint flavor won't be as strong. If you want the full peppermint flavor, use a little more mint extract.

How Do I Get The Chocolate On The Rim Of The Glass?

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave or in a pot on the stove. Then you can dip the top of the glasses directly into the melted chocolate or use a spatula to spread it around the rim.

Can I Store Leftovers?

Milkshakes are best enjoyed immediately after making. Storing leftovers is not recommended.
