Meatball Toast is a quick and easy comforting lunch, dinner or appetizer full of melted cheese and hearty Italian meatballs.
We love a good meatball toast as much as we love a zesty pepperoni toast for a quick lunch or dinner. These toasts also make a great appetizer for simple Italian dinners, like buttered parmesan noodles or fried spaghetti. Meatball toast is an ideal way to use up leftover meatballs from last night's spaghetti and meatball dinner.
If you love quick, family-friendly meals that the kids will actually eat, make sure to try these egg and cheese burritos, tortilla pizzas, fried beef tacos and cheese quesadillas next.
Why You'll Love Meatball Toast
- It takes 5 minutes to make.
- You can use any bread you have.
- The flavor combination can't be beat!
Ingredients
To make a meatball toast you need:
- 2 slices sandwich bread, or other bread loaf slices such as Italian bread or garlic bread.
- 2 tbsp marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce. Try this homemade spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce.
- ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cooked meatballs. Using store brought frozen meatballs makes it easy, but if you have leftover homemade meatballs on hand, that is even better!
Tips from the Chef
Toast the bread before adding the toppings, then toast or broil again to melt the cheese. This will make the bread crispy rather than soggy.
Instructions
- Toast the sandwich bread sliced to desired doneness. Remove from the toaster.
- Spread each toasted bread slice with marinara sauce, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and top with sliced meatballs.
- Toast or broil until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
Recipe FAQs

Maddy says
We always have leftover meatballs so instead of freezing them or eating them for a third day in a row, I make this for lunch so it's not so repetitive.
