- 16 ounces ( 1 pound) pizza dough: store-bought pizza is great, but homemade dough tastes even better if you have time to make it. We love a thin crust pizza dough or if you have a bread machine, this bread maker pizza dough.
- 1 ½ cups freshly shredded mozzarella cheese: freshly shredded melts much better than pre-shredded cheese.
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning:
- 3 tablespoons cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon olive oil:

How To Make Cheese Calzones
- Preheat the oven to 500℉ with the pizza stone inside. Leave inside for at least 20 minutes before cooking the calzones.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Italian seasoning until combined.
- Divide the pizza dough into three equal pieces. Roll each portion into a 7-inch circle.
- Place ⅓ of the cheese filling onto one half of each dough circle.Fold the empty half over the filling and pinch the edges together. Press edges down with a fork to seal.
- Sprinkle the hot pizza stone with cornmeal. Place the calzones onto the stone, leaving space between them. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil and make 1-3 small slits on top of each calzone.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the calzones are golden and firm on the outside. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving, with our 5 minute no cook pizza sauce for dipping.
