Lucky Charm Muddy Buddies are so fun for kids to help make- they don't require any cooking, just a little bit of chocolate melting in the microwave and mixing all the premade ingredients together. This sugary chocolate treat is easy and tastes delicious! We also love turning our 2-ingredient fudge green for the holiday.

To complement your muddy buddy dessert, make a rainbow fruit tray or a rainbow waffle board for breakfast.

Why You'll Love Chocolate Muddy Buddies for St. Patrick's Day

  • These are a fun snack for kids to help make and they are delicious to eat!
  • Muddy buddies are great for classroom parties or to give as a midnight snack to that sneaky leprechaun!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce bag of Chex Mix
  • 10 ounces of chocolate melts
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup marshmallow cereal, such as Lucky Charms
  • 1 ounce of green chocolate melts
  • Gold coin sprinkles

How To Make St. Patrick's Day Muddy Buddies

  1. Put the powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a large ziplock bag, then mix them together. Pour your Chex mix in a large bowl.
  2. Put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat it in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until it is liquid.
  3. Next, melt the peanut butter in the microwave and combine it with the melted chocolate.
  4. Add the vanilla extract to the melted chocolate peanut butter mix and stir until combined.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate peanut butter mixture over the Chex mix. Use a spatula to mix the Chex mix and chocolate. Be sure to scrap the bottom of the bowl so all the Chex mix gets covered.
  6. Pour the chocolate covered Chex mix into the large zip lock bag with the cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Close the bag tightly and shake bag so all the Chex mix gets covered.
  7. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and then put the chocolate muddy buddies on it.
  8. Melt the green chocolate candy melts following the same melting instructions as above. Put the green melted chocolate in a piping bag and cut a small hole at the tip. Pipe the green chocolate all over the muddy buddies in a zig zag pattern.
  9. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the Lucky Charm marshmallow cereal and gold coin sprinkles all over the muddy buddies.

Let chocolate harden, serve and enjoy!
