These easy to make white chocolate covered pretzel clusters use simple ingredients - white chocolate melting wafers, crushed pretzels and Christmas sprinkles. Creamy white chocolate wafers are melted in the crockpot, then used to coat crushed pretzels to make a big batch of candy perfect for filling trays of cookies, when you have a house full of guests or Christmas potluck parties to attend.
The kids love helping to make these, and leaving them on Santa's cookie dish the night of Christmas Eve, with a glass of peppermint hot cocoa! It takes only about 25 minutes to make white chocolate covered pretzels using your crockpot and is one of the easiest ways to melt chocolate and make homemade chocolate candies in general.
Christmas crockpot pretzel candy is also a flexible recipe. You can swap the white chocolate for milk chocolate or dark chocolate, add nuts, and add raisins or other dried fruits too.
Ingredients
You'll need only 3 ingredients:
- white chocolate melting wafers: you can use white chocolate chips too, but I prefer melting wafers because they are made for melting, meaning they melt easily without burning.
- pretzels: I think it's easiest to use mini pretzel sticks or twists since we are roughly crushing them into little pieces.
- sprinkles: use any variety of Christmas sprinkles.
How To Make Crockpot Christmas Pretzel Candy
Yield: 16-20 pretzel candy clusters, depending on how large you make them.
- Add the white chocolate melting wafers to the slow cooker in an even layer. Cover and set to low for 20 minutes. Stir the candy half way through. It may not need much longer than 10 minutes so watch it closely at this point, continuing to stir every 5 minutes until the chocolate is fully melted.
- While the wafers are melting, roughly crush the pretzels with a wooden spoon or cooking mallet.
- Turn off the crockpot and carefully remove the ceramic liner to another surface. Add the crushed pretzel pieces and mix with a wooden spoon until the pretzels are fully coated in the melted chocolate.
- Using an ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop out one to two tablespoons of pretzel candy onto a baking sheet. Top with the sprinkles. It will take about 10-15 minutes for the chocolate to harden. The baking sheet can be put in the refrigerator to speed up hardening.
Enjoy!
