Our Apple Hand Pies feature a sweet apple pie filling inside a premade buttery pie crust. They're easy to make and taste delicious. When juicy apples are in season, apple hand pies make a tasty fall breakfast or dessert.

Apple Hand Pies are the perfect blend of cozy fall flavor and portable convenience. With a buttery crust wrapped around a warm apple pie filling, these little treats are everything you love about a classic apple pie in an easy handheld version. They're ideal for fall gatherings, bake sales, holiday desserts or weekday autumn breakfasts on the go. The best part - we use store bought pie dough to keep it quick and simple.
Apple hand pies are fun for the little ones to make - they can be shaped into half moons, squares or rounds. We do the same shape shifting when we make cream cheese filled crescent rolls, depending on our mood. A simple buttery topping gives them a gorgeous golden finish, while a sprinkle of sugar cinnamon topping adds a little crunch. They are fantastic served with a drizzle of glaze or plain and packable for on-the-go snacking.

Ingredients
To make our apple hands pies you need just 5 simple ingredients:
- Apple pie filling (either a 21 ounce can or about 2 cups of a delicious homemade apple pie filling)
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts, such as these Pillsbury crusts
- Ground cinnamon
- White sugar
- Unsalted butter
Tips from the Chef
- Don't overfill the pies or they will burst when cooking.
- Do not skip making a slice in the top of the hand pie before cooking. This allows the pie to vent and not leak out the sides.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Carefully pour out the apple pie filling onto a cutting board and chop the apple chunks into bite sized pieces.
- Place one pie crust onto the baking sheet and cut 6 circles into it with the biscuit cutter. Discard the pie scraps or use in another recipe.
- Add about 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of each circle, then fold over. Press the edges down with a fork, and make a slit in the top of the pie crust. Brush butter over the top.
- Stir together the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the hand pies.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven. Transfer to a wire rack to cool before enjoying.
- Repeat steps 3-6 with the other pie crust and remaining ingredients.

How To Store
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. They can be kept in the fridge for up to 7 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months. Reheat in an air fryer or oven at 400℉ for 4-5 minutes, if desired.
Recipe FAQs
These hand pies turn out soft, sweet, and delicious!
Yes, you absolutely can use puff pastry instead. The process and cook time is the same as when using pie crust. However the result will be a light, flakier crust that's similar to a turnover.
