Nutella Cookies are a sweet sugar cookie that is soft and chewy. This sugar cookie recipe is full of Nutella flavor and is a delicious dessert for Nutella lovers.
The cookies are for Nutella lovers! Our Nutella cookies recipe starts with a chewy sugar cookie base that's then mixed with creamy Nutella and baked to a delicious perfection. They are a great treat for lunch boxes, picnics, desserts and birthday parties.
We've used our basic sugar cookie recipe to make pumpkin cookies in the fall, mint chocolate chip cookies, white chocolate chip cookies and pink colored cookies for parties and Valentine's Day. Now we've perfected our Nutella Cookie recipe using the same and can't wait for you to try it.
My kids love topping their cookies with whipped cream and sprinkles. They're delicious dunked into a warm glass of milk, peppermint hot cocoa, or creamy slow cooker hot chocolate during the winter months.
Ingredients
- Nutella: or other chocolate hazelnut spread
- Softened butter
- Sugar: I prefer unrefined coconut sugar, but white sugar or brown sugar work too.
- Vanilla extract: you can make your own too!
- Egg
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Milk: any type of dairy or non-dairy milk. This is my secret to getting the best chewy cookie that doesn't harden when it's stored.
Tips from the Chef
- Don't rush chilling the dough. It should be refrigerated for at least 1 hour, but preferably 2 hours to overnight. The cooler the dough is when baked, the higher the cookies will rise.
- Add milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips to the cookie dough for an even more delicious chocolatey cookie.
- For easy clean up, line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step-By-Step Instructions
To make this recipe we're starting with our favorite sugar cookie base from these drop-style Christmas cookies. Then adding creamy Nutella to make them extra soft and delicious.
- In a large mixing bowl beat the Nutella, butter and sugar on medium speed using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer until a crumbly mixture is made.
- Add the vanilla extract and egg. Beat again for about 1 minute, until ingredients are combined.
- Add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add the milk and beat until cookie dough is smooth. Chill for 1-2 hours, but preferably overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 400℉. Roll 1-2 tablespoons of chilled dough into balls and place on the cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake for 7-9 minutes, until the edges of cookies are set. Remove from the oven and transfer to a cooling rack immediately. Let cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
