These sweet and delicious chocolate peanut butter balls earth day recipe is fun for classroom parties and lessons, Girl Scout and Boy Scout events, camping and picnics. This no-bake recipe it's easy and fun for kids to help make.
In a small microwave safe bowl melt the green candy melts in 30 second intervals until the chocolate has liquified. Put the melted candy into a piping bag and cut a small hole in the tip. Pipe small green shapes on the inside of each semi-sphere slot of the silicone mold. Place the mold in the freezer for 5 minutes.
In another small microwave safe bowl, melt the blue candy following the same instructions as above. Using a small spoon, scoop out the melted blue candy and place it in a semi circle slot. Use the back of the spoon to spread it around the mold. Repeat this step for each slot then put the mold in the freezer for another 10 minutes.
Melt the milk chocolate candy melts following the same instructions above. Using a clean small spoon, scoop the melted candy into the slots of the silicone mold and spread it around the mold in a layer over the blue hardened candy. Place the mold back into the freezer for 10 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and room temperature butter. Mix until smooth.
Remove the mold from the freezer. Scoop the peanut butter mixture into each semi-sphere, filling to the top and smoothing out the top with the back of the spoon. Use the remaining melted milk chocolate to cover the top of each. Put the mold back in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Remove the mold from the freezer and flip upside down. Carefully push each mini earth out of the mold. Serve cool or at room temperature.
Notes
Storing: place mini earth balls in an air tight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.Tip: can't find green or blue candy melts? Use white vanilla melting candy and green/blue food coloring.
